The new Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayner Mullin, came up with an excellent observation. If airports in Santuary Cities/States have international flights and therefore U.S. Customs and Border at their airports, why would the DHS allow the state to process incoming flights through federal government customs, to then have the state be able to shelter any illegals from the federal government from deportation?

As they say, "Good question." Could it be that if you want to be a Sanctuary for illegal immigrants who are guilty of crimes, then you will lose the International part of your airport? Turnable is fair play. But it can be uncomfortable.
