“Life is hard. After all, it kills you.” Katharine Hepburn

George had it easier. All he needed was a horse and a good resume.
But if you’re a regular guy today, you can’t run for president. Or serve in any part of government.
It costs you too much. In so many ways.
It’s like Billy Joel said, “Don’t you know about the new fashion, honey? All you need are looks and a whole lotta’ money.”
That’s today’s politics…Without the looks.
As they say, “Washington is Hollywood for ugly people.”
Not to mention stupid, and greedy.
This is not at all what the Founding Fathers envisioned.
Today it’s not what you know. It’s who you know.
Despite the rancor aimed at Harvard these days, which is warranted, government is filled with Harvard grads, from John Adams to Barack Obama, and at least 50 grads serving in Congress.
Yes, it’s elitist. Yes, there is the whole money thing. If you can raise it, you’re in.
But it’s more than that.
If you’re not part of the Establishment, or are a conservative, or if people in charge plain don’t like you, you don’t stand a chance.
They will ruin you.
Fitness for the job is never even considered. It’s how much money that person can raise.
And, once elected, those people don't even have to do the job. They just start to fundraise for the next election.
“The People” are the last thing politicians think about.
What is today’s political emphasis?
Foreign wars (that are not ours), tariff agreements (that go on and on and don’t get resolved), free speech violations in Britain (huh?), and an unreasonable amount of attention to men in girls’ sports.
I like Riley Gaines, but I’m tired of seeing her. Why, I wonder, didn’t the parents of these beleaguered girls confront the travesty that is trans in their kids’ sports when it was happening?
Parents used to.
It’s a fair question.
But the point is, none of what is being done helps any everyday American. I agree it’s good to plan for the future of our country, but we also have to provide for the people who have to live in this moment.
Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency team found lots of ill-gotten-ill-distributed taxpayer money. That was a valuable contribution. Where did that money go?
What’s happening to DOGE?
We’re never told.
And, despite our national debt, money from somewhere is going to illegal immigrants, $1,000 to each illegal who self-deports, with a free air flight thrown in.
(That’s $5,000 for an illegal family of five.)
It looks like the future of DOGE is uncertain. Nothing has been done to make it a permanent government bureau.
Trump told Elon Musk at a Cabinet meeting, “You know you’re invited to stay as long as you want, and so forth.
And added, “I guess he wants to get back home to his cars.”
It made it sound like Musk had just been invited over for burgers and fries, not to uncover fraud and waste.
And, it looks like Musk is out.
Some will say “Of course. He can’t stay because of the time limit set on his special government employee status.”
But that ignores a lot.
Musk worked without pay, slept on the floor to be near to the work to which he and his team were dedicated.
He rescued astronauts that Joe and Boeing left in space.
He gave Starlink for free to storm-torn U.S. communities, and then had his business attacked.
Automobile by automobile, dealerships, one after another, Tesla stock falling to half its worth, the Left destroyed the man they used to love because he manufactured Democrat-favored electric vehicles.
And I can’t recall anyone being prosecuted for any of it.
I could be wrong.
So, yeah. I guess Musk was “eager” to get back to running the businesses he created.
But, I also think he’s leaving because he showed how easy it was for him to Get It Done.
And because he frightened people on both sides of the aisle with exposure.
Something a Patriot would do.
Interestingly a couple of days ago, a big supporter of Trump, Sen. Markwayne Mullin (Okla.) said, "When Trump is done with you, he'd done.”
Yup. Just like on The Apprentice.
Hold the line, America.
Stay strong, Patriots.
