“It’s not bragging if you can back it up.” Muhammad Ali

It was Mom’s Apple Pie and the Fourth of July all rolled into one.
From stem to stern, from start to finish, the President hit all the right notes at last night’s State of the Union Address.
He did some payback. He rushed in where angels usually don’t.
And it was simply ducky.
He addressed what was important, and remembered people who should be remembered.
After the Justices of the Supreme Court handed down a decision against him on imposing tariffs, ruling that the President had exceeded the powers given by Congress, Trump still shook the hand of Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts, because that was polite.
Then, he pointedly ignored Justice Amy Coney Barrett, one of three conservative justices who voted with Liberal members of the Court.
She looked perplexed on camera. I enjoyed her discomfort,
Some said Trump’s speech was long, and by the clock it was, about two hours, but so on point, so interesting, it didn’t seem long at all.
The President remembered.
He awarded the Medal of Honor to 100-year old World War II, Vietnam and Korean War veteran, U.S. Navy Captain E. Royce Williams, and Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover, the U.S. Army helicopter pilot, wounded during the Maduro raid in Venezuela.
And he didn’t leave anyone behind on the battle field.
He spoke with reverence about the bodies of Israeli victims which were brought back from Gaza, and the Venezuelan political prisoners who were released.
By Trump’s team.
But Democrats still were not happy. Their faces at the State of the Union said it all.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s face, grim and aged. Representatives Omar and Tliab’s faces contorted in fury. Sen. Warren’s face puzzled and old.
And when the President asked those in the audience who supported American citizens over illegal immigrants to stand, Democrats didn’t.
All in all, the Democrats in attendance looked miserable. And fifty of them didn’t come at all.
They had shut down the government, again, and blocked the Save America Act, for voter I.D. because, Trump insisted, “They can’t win without cheating.
“They want people to shovel snow,” he said, referring to New York Mayor Mamdani’s “Get Paid to Shovel Plan.”
“They got hit hard. But if you apply for that job,” he said, “you have to show two forms of ID and a Social Security card.”
Ironic.
And who would ever think that an ice hockey game would be so important? But, it was.
It was the presence of the Men’s Olympic Ice Hockey Team that had everyone grinning from ear to ear. Everywhere.
After winning the Gold against Canada, the team showed they were heart-breakingly proud to be members of the U.S. Olympic Team.
A gap-toothed Jack Hughes, who scored the winning goal in overtime, told NBC, “This is all about our country right now. I love the U.S.A. I love my teammates, it’s unbelievable.
"The USA Hockey brotherhood, it’s so strong. We had so much support from ex-players, and I’m so proud to be American today.”
It’s been so long since we heard something like that from our young people.
They celebrated. Partied. And sang the National Anthem in Miami, after Trump flew them back home from Milan on a military plane.
It felt like the good old days. The days when every U.S. citizen’s patriotism was something we all took for granted.
Now, as they say, it seems like, “These -- right now -- are the good old days.” Thanks to The Donald.
Hold the line, America. Stay strong, Patriots.
