We can't do it all, so we elect government officials to take care of the things that we can't. If it's some official's job, how is it that the East River tunnel has water dripping from the ceiling (we're talking about a tunnel, friends!), and damage to concrete and steel.
It's said this is from Hurricane Sandy. That was in 2012. The tunnel connects Long Island to Penn Station, so Long Island Railroad riders are told they're basically plumb out of luck. Something about one lane or something.
No matter what it is, the advice is sort of, "Tighten your belts, commuters." We won't, but you should.
In Loudon county, Virginia, they have a bug problem. "Lantern flies feed off trees and kill them," officials say. They've tried everything to get rid of them, they say. But now they have no choice but to throw in the towel. They say. If you see any flies, "Just stomp on them," was their professional advice.
If this is as good as it gets, it makes you wonder if we could do without elected officials altogether, doesn't it?
Hang tough.
