Democrats Sure Know How to Pick 'Em

"It is not enough to poll the presidential candidates on whether or not they think 'Black Lives Matter' or 'All Lives Matter.'  We deserve substantive responses and policy recommendations.  We deserve substance and not rhetoric.  In fact we demand it."  Black Lives Matter to Democratic National Committee

Does it really surprise you that the Democratic National Committee has offered to hold a presidential town hall sponsored by Black Lives Matter, or that Black Lives Matter demanded it?

       I didn't think so.

Despite their catchy slogans, "What do we want?  Dead cops! When do we want them?  Now!" and "Pigs in a blanket.  Fry 'em like bacon!" the DNC and the White House think they're okay folks, that they are leaders.

Obviously Democrats see Black Lives Matter differently. The group, according to the DNC, has a "commitment to progressive values," and is "an ideal host for a presidential candidate forum."

Really. And that comes as no surprise, either.

Kooks, crazies and Communists are favorites with President Obama. All you can say is, "Boy, does he know how to pick 'em."

From giving a "Get out of jail free card" to a military traitor, to inviting Clock Boy and his "homemade bomb" to the White House, as an homage to "science for kids," Obama marches to the beat of a different drummer.

       But then so does Joe.

Joe's not running for president, but the long-winded speech he gave in the Rose Garden sure sounded like he was.

Obama still thinks Hillary's "not all that," but is borrowing a page from the Brits: Having an heir and a spare. Joe is waiting in the wings, just like his lectern was waiting for him at CNN.

If Hillary falters and falls; if the Department of Justice and the FBI say, "Tsk, tsk," to Hillary's e-mail shenanigans and her unique interpretation of what she accomplished as secretary of state, Joe will be there.

But that's not the best part of Joe's announcement.  It's the speech itself.

A couple of days after the debate on CNN, Joe was at it again!

"At what?" you might ask. Well, it seems the old bugaboo that bugged Joe in his 1988 bid for the presidency has reared its ugly head again: Plagiarism.

Was there something familiar about Biden's "I'm Not Running" speech that you noticed? I thought something in the speech sounded familiar.

And it was. Jim Webb made a statement after the recent Democratic debate.  It had to do with the Republicans "not being the enemy, but the opposition."

Just like Joe said in his speech...after Webb gave his speech.

Back in the 80's, when Joe was running for president, it came out that he had plagiarized some language from a law review article, for a paper he wrote during his first year at Syracuse University Law School.

And around the same time frame, someone noticed Joe lifted a couple of phrases from the election campaign speech of Neil Kinnock, the British Labor Party leader. It was a nice couple of phrases, so you can't blame him.

It kind of went like this, "Why is it that Joe Biden is the first in his family ("Why am I the first Kinnock...) ever to be able to go to the university?"  and, "Why is it that my wife is the first in her family ("Why is, Glenys the first woman in her family...") ever to go to college?"

In later years Joe was said to have "borrowed" heavily from some other people's speeches without attributing the words to whomever said them first, and that he liked JFK and Hubert Humphrey's words and syntax so much that he sorta' made them his own.

But Joe's so likeable, who really cares? And after all, a little white lie here, a little white lie there, in the waky world of Democratic politics, what can it hurt?

It's not as though anyone's going to be hurt if you say, for instance, that an attack on an embassy somewhere, was caused by a stupid video.

       Is it?

       Hold the line, America.
