Obama Keeps On Working His Magic

It’s that time again! Time to get together to give thanks. And as Americans, there’s lots to be thankful for.

But this year, after the mid-term elections, Ferguson and a forced amnesty, there’s a feeling that something is wrong.

Where did the old American fighting spirit go, we wonder? The pride in country? Men and women who honored our country and everything for which it stands?

          Where?

Sure we may see it in each other, but unfortunately not in the people we elect.

After the Republican victory in the 2014 mid-term elections, we believed that things would change if the players changed. We believed that whatever disappointment we had with this president and his policies would be heard loud and clear through the ballots we cast.

But it wasn’t. Instead we saw a landslide mid-term trouncing turned into something else by the media and this administration.

"Polls” were cited telling us what we had voted for. Talking heads translated for us what our votes meant. And, yes, Republicans joined in.

We were told what we were thinking when we voted: It was for compromise. It was for "Washington to get to work.”

But it wasn’t. It was to stop this Imperial President. And we thought the message was clear.

          But it wasn’t.

Republicans won, but you’d never know it. After six years of careful grooming by this president, they simply didn’t know what to do with success.

They were handed Jonathan Gruber, the "smoking gun” that would give them concrete evidence of this president’s lies and deceptions about Obamacare. They should have shouted, "Bingo. We’ve got him!” But instead they were just as docile as ever.

They talked and talked, made all the major TV spots, then called for a Congressional hearing to grill Gruber and demand the return of the money he had been paid for his work on Obamacare! You know how successful those Congressional hearings have been for them in the past.

Somehow they have forgotten they have the Power of the Purse, the Power to Legislate, but most importantly, a duty to represent the will of the people.

Instead they tell us they can do nothing.

"We cannot impeach him,” they say. "He wants that.”

"We cannot cut off funding for amnesty,” they say. "That would mean shutting down the government and we’re afraid we will get blamed.”

"We cannot refuse to compromise,” they say. "He wants that so he can blame us for refusing to compromise.”

"We can’t ask him ‘What the…were you thinking bussing and flying in illegal immigrant children? Who the heck do you think you are?’”

Instead they just let him keep on working his magic.

This month the president was snubbed by China at the Asian Economic Summit, mocked by Iran for caving on nuclear negotiations and completely ignored by Russia. This is his foreign policy.

          Congress? Not a peep.

People who hate us know the United States is leaderless. And they like what they see.

Our allies? They have simply stopped trusting us.

Domestically this president has a racial agenda. He boldly interjects himself and his attorney general into state police matters. He did it in the Trayvon Martin case and he’s doing it again in Ferguson.

The president dearly wanted a guilty verdict in both cases. During his presidency, divisive race relations have been his middle name.

But he didn’t get the verdict he wanted. The system worked.

After meeting secretly with Ferguson protesters at the White House and encouraging them in their violent protests, he told them to "Hold the course.”

And when the Ferguson grand jury handed a decision not to indict, the president was angry. He insisted that a "deep distrust exists between law enforcement and communities of color,” thereby effectively fanning the fires of racial discontent.

He never threatened the rioters with prosecution, never offered solace to the  innocent Ferguson business owners whose stores the rent-a-mobs destroyed.

The message he sent was clear. This lame duck president would do what he darn well pleased.

After all he has a pen and a phone.

And throughout it all Congress was nowhere to be seen. They procrastinated and debated months before he granted amnesty to five million illegals and after he thumbed his nose at the country and granted that amnesty, they debated, "Is it constitutional?”

But it was nothing but talk.

So on this Thanksgiving what are we to do?

What we won’t do is riot to get our way. We won’t burn down local businesses. We won’t loot and pillage like the rent-a-mobs in Ferguson. And we won’t excuse the violence as "understandable,” like the president, like Al Sharpton, and like Eric Holder.

What we will do is keep on believing in America, the Rule of Law and the Power of the People.

And we are not alone. This week former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani spoke out about Ferguson and brought facts to the table.

He appeared Sunday on "Meet the Press,” and participated in a panel discussion of the shooting death of Michael Brown.

"I find it very disappointing that you’re not discussing the fact that 93 percent of blacks in America are killed by other blacks. We are talking about the exception (Ferguson). I’d like to see the attention paid to that, that you have been giving to this.”

Georgetown professor, political analyst for MSNBC and frequent Bill Maher guest Michael Eric Dyson disagreed.

"This is a defensive mechanism of white supremacy at work in your mind, sir,” was Dyson’s reply. In a later interview, Dyson said that Giulaini is "basically Archie Bunker.”

It’s terrific! There’s nothing like the truth to make those people hopping mad!

Afterwards the left went after Giuliani, but the mayor "held the course” and then doubled down on his position.

The former mayor explained that as mayor he and his police commissioner tackled crime with a statistical model, which placed police in high crime areas, not according to the racial composition of those areas.

And crime went down, for black people and white people because that’s how leaders do it. They act for the good of all people. And the good ones have the credentials to have an opinion.

As Giuliani told The Daily News, "I’ve known people like him (Dyson) for years. I had to deal with Sharpton. Who pays attention to him (Dyson) except when there’s a police shooting?”

So we have people like Rudy Giuliani to be grateful for this Thanksgiving, people who are color blind, smart, informed and unafraid of the cowards who have to resort to name-calling.

And people like those citizens who on sat on the grand jury in Ferguson, Mo., everyday people who did their civic duty while mobs raged outside the courthouse, attempting to bully these good people to get the verdict they wanted.

But that’s not how it works in America. We have a rule of law, not an emperor. And in the end the mob didn’t get its way. And neither did our president.

It doesn’t get any more American than that.

          Hold the line, America.
