"In a word, I was too cowardly to do what I knew to be right, as I had been too cowardly to avoid doing what I knew to be wrong." Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

          If Hollywood had an offspring, wouldn't it have to be Harvey Weinstein?

          Scruffy beard, sausage fingers, sloppy beer belly. The Baby looks and acts just like his parents, the Tinseltowns.

          Harvey loves the Code of Silence that exists in Hollywood. It provided him with an endless supply of actresses, with poor self esteem, and this helped him do his work...producing and distributing film...

          The Code keeps Conservative actors, directors, cameramen, et al, in the closet, while making sure that a 6 foot dude in a dress, or a binary gets the respect they deserve.

          While we're told everywhere else, "If you see something, you'd better say something," in Hollywood, mum's the word.

          So why wouldn't there be a Harvey Weinstein?

          It's a jolly Quid Pro Quo world of, "You wash my back, and I'll get you a screen role."

          In a mirror image of Right Coast D.C., a world which spawned Bill and Teddy, these two guys could be Harvey's brothers.

          This Hollywood Band of Brothers and Sisters toe the Party line and do what they're supposed to, creating a place where the Harveys of the world feel safe.

          They keep their mouths shut if they hear anything unpleasant;

          They fly their private jets to support Climate Change and the Paris Accords;

          When former First-Governor-Lady Maria Shriver held a women's conference a few years back, "women" didn't include conservatives;

          And when comedian Jimmy Fallon greeted presidential candidate Michelle Bachmann with the song "The Bitch is Back," the defenders of women, the followers of Hillary, Hollywood women, rested heavily on the Democratic platform of protecting women, but were speechless when it came to women in general.

          They were just as "shocked and appalled" as Hillary was when the bad news broke about Harvey. "How could anyone expect us to know? Or tell?" they shrieked. Yet this microcosm of the Democratic Party has enabled politicians like Hillary and Obama to lead a Hollywood-East life, and the Weinstein brothers to get rich by abusing women.

          Harvey gave a lot of money to the Democrats, Hillary and the Clinton Foundation, working belly-to-belly with every Democrat on the national and state level since the 1990's. And they liked that. But no Democrat, especially Hillary, will admit to knowing that Harvey was doing what he was doing.

          They liked his money. In fact, the only time we've seen the combative sparkle go out of Hillary's eyes was when she appeared on CNN, to what she thought was a "safe place," and Fareed Zakaria asked her if she was going to give back Harvey's donations.

          In his heyday, Harvey's path was made smooth by the Hollywood biggies.

          Meryl Streep called him "God," in an acceptance speech. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were staunch supporters, through film after film, working with him, sticking with him, until the bitter end. That came when Ronan Farrell's article was published this month in the New Yorker.

          But nothing lasts forever, and when the going got tough for Harvey, Democrats like the Clintons, Obama and Schumer bailed. And so did Hollywood.

          Shocked, Democrats denied they'd ever noticed, over a 40-year-period, that one of their biggest donors was a sexual predator.

          Appalled, Hollywood condemned him, one after another, as tales of icky predatory behavior spread throughout the media industry, into NBC, The New York Times, Amazon, and on and on.

          No one noticed,  they said, not even best-Harvey-buds, Affleck and Damon. Perhaps it was because this "Artistic Climate" is so accepting, they really didn't notice.

          In Hollywood a pedophile can get an Academy Award, and can get hired to work at child-friendly Disney, after doing jail time for pedophilia.

          A Hollywood director can marry his stepdaughter and still be a powerhouse in the business. And some actresses get so may Oscars, you have to say, "Hey! Wait a minute!"

          Weinstein made a lot of careers, including Affleck and Damon's with Good Will Hunting. So doesn't it kinda' make you wonder? Was their fledgling movie really that good, or did this twosome just have a friend in low places? And then remained silent.

          And the mega-awards stars. Are the actresses who won awards really that good, or did they just pay the right piper? Then said nothing.

          After "LaLa Land" swept the Academy Awards, it's easy to believe some kind of fix is in. But it won, and is a film that is a tribute to everything that Hollywood has become.

          Mediocre. And a joke.

          Hold the line, America.
