Now, it was funny when Woody Allen ordered 1,000 grilled cheese sandwiches, 400 tuna and 200 BLT's in the movie, Bananas. With 900 sides of coleslaw.
How come it wasn't funny when President did it?
This Monday the president hosted the Clemson Tigers National Football Champs at the White House, and got raked over the coals for his choice of food.
The White House kitchen was unavailable because of the government shutdown, so the president did what any good host, or dad, would do. He ordered dinner.
A Wendy's-McD's-BurgerKing-Domino dinner. For football players.
"I think that would be their favorite food, so we'll see what happens," he told reporters Monday morning.
And they did like it. Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence told TMZ that "It was awesome."
But Leftists didn't think it was awesome. They thought it was Classist, Racist, and Disrespectful. The Washington Post even wrote an article about it.
You should never have to apologize for doing a great job. And you sure shouldn't be Persecuted, Prosecuted and Judged-and-Juried for non-existent Crimes and Misdemeanors by the likes of The New York Times.
You never have to. If you're a Democrat.
This week 60 Democrats and 160 lobbyists basked in the sun, on a junket to Puerto Rico.
While the government was shut down.
During the holidays, Speaker of the House Pelosi (D-CA) also hit the road, vacationing in Hawaii.
During a government shutdown.
President Trump stayed in D.C. during the holidays. But who wants to let news like that get out? Certainly not the Leftist media and their lackeys.
Instead they focused on Fast Food.
"It's not much of a leap to assume that Trump guessed that many Clemson Tigers are black or come from working-class background," VOX reporter Rebecca Jennings wrote.
She presumed, that Trump presumed, that, "They preferred cheap, fatty foods over anything the White House would typically serve for guests in the State Dining Room."
Then she presumed to call him a liar, based on one of his tweets.
"Because of the Shutdown, I served them massive amounts of Fast Food (I paid), over 1,000 hamberders, etc." the president tweeted about the Clemson visit.
This, the writer said, provided "a portrait of the ease with which Trump is capable of lying."
Because he quoted the wrong number. Of burgers. He said 1,000. His staff said 300. Maybe he was counting "meals."
Nonetheless, it's a knotty problem. Especially while the government is shut down because of a Border Crisis, and another Central American caravan is revving up to come our way. Organized by an accused rapist.
As always, Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers were Johnnies on the Spot, ready to mock.
"The 'e' and the 'u' aren't even near each other," Kimmel said of the president's typo. "It's like in the middle of tweeting he had a stroke or something."
Meyers ridiculed the president saying he picked up the $3,000 tab.
These were all Good Liberal Yukking Points. Although not as good as CNN's Jim Acosta's report from the wall in San Diego. He didn't mean to, but he proved that walls really do work. And that was after CNN turned down local reporter, Daniel Plante, because he has often reported exactly that, and would again.
Who wants to hear something like that on CNN? Not Liberals.
Unfortunately, Trump's largesse in all of this is lost. He paid for dinner, and that was nice. He didn't disappoint the kids. And that was nice.
He donates his presidential salary, while those in Congress do not.
And he sticks around when the government has to be shut down because there is a real Border Crisis, not a manufactured one.
Today Speaker of the House Pelosi hid in her office when mothers whose children were killed by illegal immigrants tried to meet with her.
Pelosi's aide said she wasn't there, but she was.
The Angel Mothers Group chanted "Build the Wall! Build the Wall!" but Pelosi stayed in her office.
Someone should have told the ladies that Democrats only respond to chants like Antifa's "No Border, No Wall, No U.S.A at all!"
Or to protests like Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez' sit-in outside Pelosi's office, supporting climate change.
"We are inspired by the energy and activism of the many young activists...leading the way on the climate crisis," Pelosi said about that one, while refusing to compromise with the president on the crisis at the border.
"I'm tired of being insulted and re-victimized by politicians who don't speak up for us," Sabine Durden said.
Durden's son, Dominic, was killed by an illegal immigrant who had two felonies, two DWI's and had been deported once. To Guatemala.
"They speak up for illegals, for law breakers," Durden said.
Except for President Donald J., the president they accuse of High Fast Food Crimes and Misdemeanors.
He stands up for them. And he stands up for us.
