There's class and there's love of country.

Jeff Sessions has plenty of both.

Yesterday the former Alabama senator lost the Republican nomination for his old Senate seat to contender Tommy Tuberville.

Sessions was the first U.S. senator to endorse Donald Trump during the presidential primary campaign.

When no one else did.

And Sessions never waivered in his support for the president.

Sessions represented his state for two decades before resigning to become President Trump's attorney general. He later left the job under a cloud after angering Trump by recusing himself from the Russian Collusion investigation as a potential witness because of his campaign ties to the president.

But class shows. After losing the primary, and after the president supported Tuberville, the 73-year-old Sessions was nothing but sweet.

"I was honored to serve the people of Alabama," he said, "and I was extraordinarily proud of the accomplishments we had as attorney general."

As for the Sessions-bashing Tuberville, the former Attorney General said, "He is our Republican nominee. We must stand behind him in November."

There's class and there's love of country. Jeff Sessions has plenty of both.

Hang tough.
