Galileo, the Democrats and Us

"A man does not attain the status of Galileo merely because he is persecuted. He must also be right." Stephen Jay Gould, Science Historian

Being right, but holding unpopular opinions is at the root of all persecution.

This week, there were scenes that could have been straight out of the Roman Catholic Church's 1633 Inquisition of Galileo.

But they weren't. They took place yesterday.

One was before the House Judiciary Committee. The other took place in a gym in the state of New Jersey.

Galileo's sin was the theory that the earth moved around the sun.

The Church said that theory was contrary to "Holy and Divine Scripture," and found him to be "vehemently suspect of heresy," sentencing him to "indefinite imprisonment."

The Church locked him up until his death in 1642.

Attorney General William Barr's sin was that he ordered federal troops to Anarchist-paid-to-riot mob-controlled cities, where Marxist protesters were destroying everything around them.

And the owners of the Atilis Gym in Bellmawr's transgression was trying to make a living.

The two guys had been jerked around for months. Opened, then closed. Setting up their business with appropriate social distancing. Even resorting to lugging their equpment outdoors.

But the State of New Jersey said no dice.

The owners, Ian Smith and Frank Trumbetti were arrested yesterday, found in contempt of court for refusing to follow Democrat Gov. Murphy's ever-changing Coronavirus "mandates."

Those are the ones which left liquor stores and WalMart open, and closed churches indefinitely.

Smith said he wasn't afraid.

"No American should be, because we outnumber them greatly. And the only thing they run off of is fear.

"Which is why you see what you see in the media, where they're pumping fear into the Coronavirus, when what they should be pumping is solutions," Smith said.

House Judiciary Chair Jerry "Shorty" Nadler didn't scare Barr, either.

Not when he talked over the attorney general, and didn't allow him to answer questions.

And not when he told Barr he "should be ashamed of himself" for sending in federal agents, for what were "obvious political objectives."

"Since when is it okay to burn down a federal courthouse?" Barr shot back.

"What unfolds nightly around the courthouse cannot be called a protest," Barr said in his opening statement.

"It is, by any objective measure, an assault on the government of the United States."

House Speaker Nancy was displeased, and, appearing yesterday on MSNBC's "The Beat," called the attorney general "despicable" for his performance during the hearing.

"So this -- it's really -- he was like a blob," Pelosi sputtered. "He was like just a henchman for the president of the United States instead of the attorney general of the United States of America."

And she heartily disagreed with Barr's characterizing protesters as less than peaceful.

"Peaceful protest is who we are, and what we do," she insisted.

And she's right. Americans have seen, up close and personal, who Democrats are.

And what they do.

They've watched anti-American mercenaries destroy American cities and American businesses, nightly, for months.

They've heard the distressed stories of businessmen whose storefronts are shuttered, shoppers afraid to patronize their stores.

They've watched while police officers were blinded by lasers, and assaulted by lethal projectiles.

But Democrats, including the media, claim the protests are peaceful, even as buildings burned behind their reporters covering the carnage.

It's really not so different from Galileo's time.

It took 359 years before the Church admitted Galileo was right, Pope John Paul II stating that the Inquisition had "acted in good faith..."

But were wrong.

There is no good faith in what is happening in our country today.

There is the real prospect of civil war.

And like the last Civil War, Democrats are on the wrong side of history again.

Hold the line, America.
